It feels like just yesterday, driving up Highway 130 on one of those rare snowy days in the hills of San Jose. It’s a place I’ve seen countless times during the cold winter months, always saying that one day I’d make it a goal to see Lick Observatory covered in snow.
Man, was that a scary drive in my ’93 Honda Civic Hatchback, which still starts on the first try, by the way. I remember thinking to myself, and saying to my brothers, that I hoped we’d make it back safely. Snowy conditions in a front-wheel-drive car can be pretty nerve-racking, especially with balding tires. I’m happy to say we made it home safe that day.
It’s a memory I’ll cherish forever, the drive up Mount Hamilton to see the observatory in the snow. This side patch is a tribute to a landmark we can see from so many angles all across San Jose.
